Care in a stressful time
Everything we do here is aimed at helping kids relax. So all of our things that are geared specifically towards kids was thought out with the intent to make them feel comfortable. So we have a tiny door so they feel invited in, we have tiny toilets and tiny sinks so they feel like, “Wow, this place is really for me.” We also like to give kids choices. And so we give choices on things that don’t matter to us but it can make kids feel empowered, and like they have a sense of control.
So one example of that is we give choices on like flavors and scents. So kids can choose the flavor of their toothpaste, or they can choose the flavor of their laughing gas. And with that laughing gas is one of the things that helps kids feel really comfortable. In our office, the laughing gas is plumbed through the chair, and kids breathe in the nose. And the laughing gas helps them feel relaxed, it helps them feel like times going a little bit faster, and helps lower their gag reflex. So everything in dentistry is just more comfortable. And at the end of the procedure, they breathe fresh air, so there’s no residual effects of the laughing gas.
That helps a lot of kids. But for some kids, that’s not quite enough. And so for them, we have general anesthesia. And so an anesthesiologist comes into the office and puts them completely to sleep and we’re able to get all of their treatment done all at once. And this is a really good option for kids who are unable to cooperate or are too young to cooperate or who are super, super fearful of dentistry. But if you want your child to love the dentist. Or if you have fears of the dentist and you don’t wanna pass those on to your child, then bring them on in and we can help you all feel comfortable with the situation.
